WOW! 12 days of no Blog makes Nurazhar a dull guy. Heh.
What to do? I've been working straight days, and since the working hours are from 11AM to 9PM, everyday is more or less the same. Except dring the days I took off.
Those 3 days were the only time I took off from work. But they were sure memorable days. How memorable? Take a look at this.
5th June 2003: Went to the IT Show at Expo in the morning, then realized the whole show sucks big time. It was supposed to be an IT show, so I was ecpecting some cool raw parts like motherboards, and RAMs. Boy, was I disappointed. They only sold LCD monitors, digital cameras, OSIM massage chairs look-a-like (What has THAT gotta do with IT??? ANSWERS PLEASE!!!) and already assembled branded computers. And If I recall correctly, this was the first IT show I went to which has food booths stretching from one end of the hall to another. If you are an IT expert, you'll understand how I felt. I only stayed for 15 mins before I left with a sulky face. In the MRT, I rang up my friend to meet up at Sim Lim Square (My second home). You see, I had been keeping myself updated with the IT market to see the prices of computer parts rise and fall, and I had a prediction that it willl rise again. So I figured that this would be the best time to buy my new desktop. My friend and I spent 4 hours scanning through the whole of Sim Lim, and we sat down for another hour trying to compile the best computer out of a given budget of $1500 by my dad. By 6:30PM, all was done. I had a discussion with my parents that night, and was given the "Go Ahead" signal. I was overjoyed.
6th June 2003: Met up with my friend at Sim Lim around 3PM to buy the hardware components to assemble my PC. By 6PM, we had what we wanted, and we started on it at 7:30PM at my house. After 4 gruesome hours, it was completed and when it was switched on, I could feel the power of my PC. THE FEELING! It was too great. For those of you who are wondering what's so great about my new desktop, here are some of its specifications:
- Pentium 4 2.66GHz processor
- GIGABYTE mainboard with HT technology and capability of supporting up to 4GB of RAM.
- 1GB DDR RAM
- 80GB HDD
- GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB DDR with TV/DVI Out
- Iomega 52x24x52 CD-RW
- Sony 16x DVD-ROM
- 8 USB 2.0 ports
- FireWire port
There are still more features not listed, but I figured that should be enough to keep some of your tongues wagging.
7th June 2003: Actually. the only reason I took this day off was to buy 2 more CPU fans to keep my system at a constant temperature. The processor and the memory was too great, the CPU temperature was rising to 80 degrees celsius. After installing the 2 fans, the temperature was constant at 50 degrees celsius when idle, and it only touched 70 degrees celsius when I was doing intensive gaming. Oh yeah, the experience was exhilarating.
Of course, too bad I won't be enjoying it for long. Tomorrow will be my last day at work, because I need Friday off to pack my things for the adventure camp at Selangor from Saturday until Tuesday. When I return on the 17th. I have a weeks' rest before staring work again at the World Book fair at Suntec Convention Centre from 25th June until 4th July. I'll be looking forward to that.
For now, I'll be looking forward to enjoying my experience with my new PC. Oh yeah.
