[Mood: Great] [Mentally: Claer] [Physically: Okay] [State of Mind: Unsure]
Went out of my house early today to drop by my secondary and primary schools for Teachers' Day. I always go back as both of them were side by side. Lolz. And I have never failed to go back, even for a year. So my teachers back there weren't quite surprise to see me again.
While walking the path to my secondary school from the bus-stop, I could almost recall my time there. It all feels familiar, but looks different. The playground which used to be along the way was no longer there. A lot of construction taking place around. But the provision shop which I patronized back in the old days is still there.
Upon reaching the school, I was amazed by how big it looked. Everything was repainted and now it glows with a dim orange. I walked right in and realized I was the only outsider there. I guess I was the first one there as it was only 8:45AM. I peeked into the staff room and saw Mr Ang, the teacher who helped me took A-Maths. He took one glance at me and welcomed me. While we were chatting, my Science and Character Education teachers came and joined. My Science teacher, Mr Ong, showed me around the new place. Major changes were made since I graduated. The only comment I made was only when he showed the school hall. "This year, we're going to make it air-conditioned," he said. I replied, "Hey, I've heard that one before... When was it that I heard? OH YES! 3 years ago! And they're using OUR money!" He laughed. It is true. The principal promised my batch would be taking 'O' Levels in an air-conditioned hall. Fat hope. As he showed me around a new block, I saw the Vice-Principal and called out to him. He was my mentor during my Sec 4 days when I was the class chairman. So it was quite easy to chat him up. After some time at my secondary school, I went across to my primary school.
As I arrived there, I saw my Malay teacher walking up the stairs. I ran and caught up with her, and she was delighted to see me. We talked for a while before she asked me if I wanted to see my Pri 6 form teacher. During my 7 years when I came back, I only looked for 2 teachers, my Malay teacher and my Pri 6 teacher. So she knew what I came for, and told me to go to the old classroom. I used to be in 6A EM1, and since the orientation of the school didn't change much, I knew where it is. I peeked in, and grinned when she saw me. She went, "Hey Azhar! You came! I was just talking to my students that the poly and JC students always come back to see me, but so far none has." I was the first one to see her! We talked about the changes in the school. Every classroom has a computer now. Sheesh. We exchanged contacts in case she needs help with computers. After taking my leave, I took one last look at the school, trying to recall the good times I had.
Glanced at my watch. 9:30AM. Thought of skipping Genomics and Proteomics practical, but when I realized I had time to rush back, I went for it. Reached class about 10:30AM. We have to set up an Apache server to create a Biological database search engine. Had lunch with a friend before going back to the lab to finish up the server configuration.
Later that evening, my friend and I went around school to put up posters of FF 2005 before going home. I went home quite early today as my dad is already complaining about my late nights in school. So just to make him happy, I left school at 6:15PM.
Everything is going well for me, in terms of uh... Everything. Lolz. Just hope it stays that way.
Hope.
