[Mood: Okay] [Mentally: Strained] [Physically: Fine] [State of Mind: Bubbled]
Been busy during the weekend. Lots of decision to be made, lots of scheduling need to be done for the next 2 months.
Came to school on Saturday to study with my friend. Exams around the corner, or should I say exam? Only have one paper, Genomics & Proteomics, which will be on this Wednesday. 50% paper, I'll have to whack it hard.
On Sunday, I had my examinations for madrasah. I didn't really study peoperly, but I think I did okay. The 3 papers (Tauhid, Sirah, Akhlak) were back to back. Next week, another 3 papers.
My schedule's very packed for this and the coming month. GP exam on 27th oct, and Berita Harian's coming on that day during my exam period to see how Muslim students break their fast. Of all people, they have to take me as an example. Dragged in 3 more people for the shoot, so I guess it'll be okay. A proposed Exco break fast on 29th Oct, but I have yet to get any word on that. My class will be having a birthday celebration on that day for one of my classmates at PartyWorld @ Orchard. A KTV. And they asked me to come. I think I'll consider about that.
On the following day, 30th Oct, I'm invited to attend the Community Leaders' Forum at the Malay Heritage Centre at Sultan Road. Yaacob Ibrahim will be there for the dialogue session. It should be an interesting one. 1st Nov, my group will have to kick start our FYP project again. We need to complete some project specifications (Medium-Low priority) for Keio University. Then once we're done, it will be submitted for a Bioinformatics conference to be held in Tokyo on 15th Dec. Yeah, our names will be on a paper. 'Paper' in the Bioinformatics field refers to research documents of the project, something like a thesis in university. I heard with our names on the paper, it can help un for university admission. Yet to clarify on that.
8th Nov, SPMLS is invited to attend RP's Iftar. Got an e-mail from their President, and they'll also be having Dr Maliki Osman as their special guest for an informal interaction. Still trying to get people to come, no one seems to reply to my sms, for that matter. If you're reading this, and you are either an Exco, Nurhayat, Nurdeen or Sang Singa Purba member, and you are interested to come for the Iftar, please sms me at 91384481. Deadline's on 1st Nov. For those having ITP, I don't think it'll be a problem. The event will start at 5. You can come a bit late.
19th Nov, received an invitation from the Istana for a Hari Raya Get-Together. Got Zafirah to come along. Yaacob Ibrahim will be there too. Guess this will be another event to watch out for.
So far, there are no plans for any Jalan Raya, Exco or my secondary school friends. Maybe everyone's busy with examinations. I'll just be on standby.
28th Nov, I'll be off to Thailand on a cruise for a Leadership Seminar. It'll end on the 1st Dec. Then I'll have 2 days, tops, to work on my speech for PHR which will be on 3rd Dec. Unless I can start earlier. We'll see about there.
Decision, decisions, decisions. Had to make them quickly for the past 3 days. Especially about going to Japan. I was very undecisive about my decision after Friday's interview. The job offered by Singapore BioInformatics Institute looks tempting. But my lecturer had made it clear he has no plans to separate my group mate and I, who are unproductive on our own, but when combined, work wonders. He was so engrossed to go to Japan, that I can't possibly let my decision ruin his excitement. So I decided to go for it. Why was I so reluctant in the first place? 3 things. Finance, Food, Friday prayers. The 3 F's. It'll cost S$2000 to and fro, and that excludes self expenses. I still need to bring an extra S$700 for the trip, and this is enough to scrap for a month. I guess this is expected, since Japan has a high cost of living. Food is another problem. Maybe I'll have to stick to eating fish everyday. Another F. Or I can bring reinforcements for instant food, to last for 8 weeks. As for Friday prayers, since I have yet to confirm where the accommodation will be, I don't really know where the nearest mosque will be.
Maybe the 3 F's aren't the only thing bugging me to stay in Singapore. There are also 3 F's which I can't really bear to leave. Family, Friends, Fraternity. But then again, I guess sometimes you come across a very rare opportunity, and you just have to go for it. Since my parents have given me the green light, now all I have to do is to wait for my own green light at Japan.
Until then, I'll treasure my time in Singapore.
