sleep (sl p)n.
1. A natural periodic state of rest for the mind and body, in which the eyes usually close and consciousness is completely or partially lost, so that there is a decrease in bodily movement and responsiveness to external stimuli. During sleep the brain in humans and other mammals undergoes a characteristic cycle of brain-wave activity that includes intervals of dreaming.
2. A period of this form of rest.
3. A state of inactivity resembling or suggesting sleep; unconsciousness, dormancy, hibernation, or death.

Sleep. Something I have been lacking for the past few days. Well, not me alone. I’m sure there are a lot more people out there who needs sleep. Sleep is something everyone needs, but they never seem to want it. Why? Simply because sleeping is not productive.
Most people think that they can go without sleep. I am one of them. Unfortunately, that is very untrue. No matter how, no matter what, you will still need to sleep at least 4 hours a day. Otherwise, you’ll be like a zombie for the week. And people are going to start asking, “Hey, what’s with those eye bags?” or “You look like a panda!” Sounds familiar? Yeah, each one of us must have heard it once in a while.
When you sleep, it revitalizes your body. You will gain back your energy. You mind will be cleared, and you will wake up feeling fresh. Actually, you’ll wake up feeling fresh AFTER you take a shower. Immediately after waking up, you will still be half conscious. Something like sleep walking.
My sister used to have a bad habit of sleep walking. During the time we lived in Yishun, the family will be shocked to see the living room lights on in the morning when everyone just woke up. It was only after a few weeks that my family realized my sister was the one going out to the living room in the middle of the night and switching on the light for no reason.
So what happens during sleep? We dream. It’s very common. Some will have nightmares, some will have wonderful dreams, and some will have weird dreams. Sometimes I dreamt myself as a super cop driving on the freeway at neck breaking speeds and shooting at bad guys on rooftops. It is known that dreams can sometimes have a message. Something like a prediction of what will happen to you. I’m not really quite sure what dreams mean what, but I sure would like to. In fact, many people would like to know what their dreams actually mean. Although almost all of the time, you wake up, and you’ll be trying very hard to recap what your dream was about, but to no avail.
To me, I don’t really care what dreams mean. As long as I wake up after my sleep, I’ll be glad, and look forward to another wonderful day of my life.

====================
Life. A very broad topic. I’ll just talk about what I think about life.
I look at life as a never-ending obstacle course. You’ll meet with practically all kinds of challenges which can bring you down if you are not strong enough. And it’ll keep on coming, until you get old. Even when you’re old, you will face challenges.
So it is not a surprise to hear people saying, “Life sucks” and “Life is unfair”. But this is usually the time you have to pick yourself up, and continue facing new challenges. For me, whenever I’m down, I’ll take some time to think about it. The causes of it. Then I’ll pick myself up and say, “Bring on more challenges.” Optimism plays an important part in giving you a nice life.
Suicides are seen when some people cannot cope with their life. These are really stupid people who think they can solve their problems by taking their life. I mean, if you want to die, make sure you have no next-of-kin. It is sad to see people committing suicide, and the family will also suffer because of that.
I went through a bad patch in my life during the start of my secondary school days. People always calling me geek and nerd because of my spectacles, and that time, I was one of the so called “bulliable” ones. However, everything turned around during secondary 3. You could say I had some major attitude changes towards how I faced the challenges. From then on, my life has been on a smooth ride, not without a few setbacks though.
To sum it all up, I believe all of us have something to achieve in life. Whatever it is, we must always be optimistic. Try listening to LFO – Life Is Good. It helps. =)
