[Mood: Fine] [Mentally: Okay] [Physically: Fine] [State of Mind: Stable]
Just woke up this morning to see a wonderful start to a day, and now, it's snowing like hell. Sheesh. The weather here is so dynamic.
Yesterday was a very short day. I didn't have anything to do at the lab, except maybe set up our laptops for wireless, and then getting our Linux machines. Then Gabor-san and Sugi-san brought us for lunch with a China man.
The 3 of us. There's actually snow being blown in our face.
The restaurant we went to was very near our hostel. Actually, it's just outside. The place is very cosy, and there is some light music playing in the background. It was definite that I'm taking vegetarian. Ronnie took the same thing. The dish was very filling, although I had a bit of trouble trying to see HOW they actually eat it. It consisted of sticky rice in a bowl, one bowl of soup with onions and potatoes, and another bowl of soup with brinjal and radish. I had a bit of trouble with using the chopstick and eating Chinese style, but it was okay in the end. We ended up paying for our own lunch, with a 20% discount. I think mine was 750 yen, which is approximately S$12.
After that, Sugi-san brought us to the Biolab a few miles away from here. The weather wasn't very good, and even with heavy-duty gear, you can still feel the cold. Upon reaching there, we met up with Richard, whom we saw yesterday during his Japanese class. Martin was also introduced to us. We knew Martin as we were introduced to his project on electrolysis cappillaries, or something like that. After a good an hour there, (it felt like Biology class) we made our way back, stopping over at a convenience store along the way.
The bad weather, and Richard (in red) and Martin (right) with Ronnie.
We didn't really have any idea what to cook for dinner. Last night, Ronnie made some fried black pepper brinjal, scrambled eggs, and tofu with soya sauce. Since we were too hungry that time, we didn't think twice about it. They put me in charge of dinner today, so I got a couple of things to make spaghetti.
Reaching back at Center Lab (our working lab), we stayed around for another hour. They have this vending machine there which dispenses hot can drinks. Can't find that in Singapore. Me and Chin Ho got to a couple of games of table tennis in the People's Room, and soon, Ronnie and Yaomin joined us. It was nice to get some kind of work out.
Then it was time to cook for dinner. It was, well... Let's just say cooking, to men, is like war. Ha ha... Tomato puree spilled on the walls, overflow of black pepper sauce. And the kitchen was so small, but the four of us were all in it. We took a video of me trying to fry prawns with black pepper sauce. I'll put it up soon. After 3 hours (YES!) of preparing and cooking, we finally sat down for dinner. It was already 10PM by then.
Dinner (clockwise): Spaghetti, fried tofu in soya sauce, fried potatoes, boiled veggies, and black pepper prawns.
We had a walk in the city shortly after dinner, but it was too cold after walking for some time, so we turned back. I was already super tired, and my lips are cracking up due to the cold. After a clean-up int he kitchen, I slept.
It's still snowing heavily outside. Looks like another short day. Dang, I have to get used to the weather.
